GM VCSE Round Table: Primary Care

Registration is closed for this event
Aimed at GM VCSE organisations with a broad interest in primary care, particularly general practice but also including social prescribing.

The Greater Manchester Health and Social Care Partnership (GMHSCP) would like to hold a round table session with members of the VCSE sector to discuss the revised Greater Manchester Primary Care Strategy.

Although the GMHSCP are part way though the delivery of their previous strategy (launched in 2016), the focus on neighbourhoods, place-based working and the publication of the NHS Long Term Plan offers a chance to build on what has already achieved and continue to address the challenges still faced.

The new strategy focuses on neighbourhoods and communities, personalised care, quality, and sustainability. The GMHSCP's existing neighbourhood approach recognises that people’s health, wellbeing and ability to live independently starts with living well day to day, supported by their families and wider community. So, they  are aware that they need to build on the strengths and resources (or ‘assets’) available to them across GM.

They want to train GM's health professionals to enable the provision of different types of primary care consultation, covering aspects of care such as health coaching and shared decision making. In addition, they also want to develop health solutions that are much more than medicine and involve connecting people to non-medical care, support, information, advice and activities in the community. They want to see the consideration of issues that affect people’s health, such as employment, fuel poverty and social isolation, become as embedded in primary care provision as writing a prescription or making a referral to secondary care.

The GMHSCP acknowleges that that the Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise sector is crucial to the design and delivery of the GM primary care strategy and therefore wants to work with our sector to deliver a community centred, neighbourhood approach. The discussions on the day will help inform the development of their implementation plan including:

  • Prioritising areas of work
  • Developing new approaches

This event is aimed at any GM VCSE organisation with an interest in primary care, particularly the broad vision for general practice, but including social prescribing so we would like to hear from groups and organisations that could contribute to this agenda. The session will be a lively and informative discussion with an opportunity to share ideas.

To book  your place, please click on the 'Register Now' tab at the top or bottom of this page.

Please note there are only 20 delegate places available at this meeting, places will be strictly allocated upon a first come, first served basis.

As this event is likely to be very popular, only one delegate place can be offered to each VCSE organisation in order to ensure that as many organisations can attend as possible from across GM. Multiple registrations from the same organisation will be rejected.
