There has never been a more interesting time to join our Board.
The role of the social economy in the Greater Manchester city region is rising in significance, and we are seeing evolution and innovation on an unprecedented scale.Citizen-led organisations are a major part of this: the voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) sector in Greater Manchester is huge, diverse and well-connected, comprising more than 15,000 constituted organisations, deploying 1.1m volunteer hours per week and adding 3.5% GVA to the economy.
GMCVO is the VCSE sector support and development organisation for the city region, offering collaborative leadership and communications, and providing research, policy work and a range of services and projects.
We have a strong committed board of trustees with clear strategic vision, and an experienced staff team. We are looking to add some people to our board, and are also looking for a new Chair, as our current Chair Patsy Hodson is retiring from the role.
If you are interested in the leadership of a high profile Greater Manchester organisation with a difference we would like to hear from you.
All board members have the responsibilities of charity trustees and company directors. The Chair has some responsibilities in addition to those of other Board members. Note that GMCVO non-executive roles are unpaid, apart from agreed out of pocket expenses.
For an informal discussion please contact Alex Whinnom (Chief Executive) on 0161 277 1004, Richard Dyson (Vice Chair) 0161 980 5552 or Cllr Tom McGee 0161 432 8792. If you are interested in the Chair position, please contact Patsy Hodson (retiring Chair) on 07763 342200.
