The GM Combined Authority has been given the opportunity to take part in a Collaboration with Bloomberg City Leadership, Harvard, New York, and it has been agreed that the subject area will be School Readiness. This will involve a 4-day programme in New York City on 11-15 March for 8 people. Initial discussion with the Bloomberg office has suggested that GMCA includes a range of senior leaders and frontline staff representative of GM’s School Readiness ‘system’. All costs will be met by the Bloomberg programme.
There are 8 places in total and to date, 3 have been confirmed for senior leaders. For the remaining 5 places, GMCA is keen to ensure representation of frontline staff, VCSE sector and middle managers – all of whom need to be part of the School Readiness programme going forward. There is as yet no VCSE member on the School Readiness Board. Ideally, this would be the same person who participates in the Bloomberg programme in March.
The GMCA and VCSE Devolution Reference Group are seeking someone from the VCSE sector who can lead and support the work beyond the visit – a senior leader from the sector with an active interest in school readiness.
• The right representative will be knowledgeable about working with children, families and communities and will have an understanding of school readiness and the GM agenda.
• You will be open to learning and being challenged, and working with colleagues to develop new solutions beyond current service delivery models.
• You will be committed to supporting the broader VCSE sector beyond your own organisational interests.
• You will be willing to make yourself accountable to the wider VCSE “early years” sector by linking to the GM VCSE Reference Group and GMCVO. You will be supported to inform and consult with relevant peers and colleagues, and may be asked to provide written updates or speak at events.
If you would like to be considered for this role please complete the attached form and return to Warren Escadale email@example.com by 8am on Monday 12th February 2018.
A decision will be made by Wednesday14th February. Apologies for the short notice but the VCSE Devolution Reference Group has only just been made aware of this opportunity.
