PHE report: COVID-19: review of disparities in risks and outcomes

This report by Public Health England (PHE) is a descriptive review of of surveillance data on disparities in the risk and outcomes from COVID-19. The review looked at different factors including:

  • age and sex

  • where people live

  • deprivation

  • ethnicity

  • people’s occupation

  • care home residence

Whilst the report acknowledged the disproportionate impact on specific demographics, especially people from BAME backgrounds, it stopped short of recognising the structural inequalities which are believed are the main cause for this.
