Shaping rehab services for children with acquired conditions

Voluntary organisations in Greater Manchester are invited to help develop a rehabilitation services “blueprint” for children with acquired conditions, including traumatic injury, infection, or surgery affecting the brain.

The initiative, which is being led by the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital, is focused on the whole pathway for children and young people, particularly access to education and realising their potential into adulthood. It aims to ensure that all children, young people and their families are supported to maintain their peer groups and community links, and for parents to remain in employment, during what can be a difficult and extended rehabilitation period for the child or young person.

A North of England Children's Rehabilitation Board has been established and a conference to be held in Bolton on 10th June is also being planned.
Organisations working in this field are invited to share their views at the event and to consider becoming a member of the Northern Board.

Interested organisations should contact Nicola Adamson, nicola.adamson@cmft.nhs.uk, or Hazel Spain, 0161 701 5559, Hazel.spain@cmft.nhs.uk.
