Greater Manchester Mental Health Trust Appointed Governor – 1 VCSE representative position available

GM Mental Health Trust have set out the role of an Appointed Governor as follows: “The role of the Council of Governors is two-fold – to represent the interest of our members, partners and local communities and to also hold our Board to account for the Trust’s performance. The majority of our governors are elected members of staff, the wider public or service users and carers. We do, however, have a number of seats reserved for Appointed Governors, who offer a different perspective to our elected governors by virtue of them working for some of our partner organisations.”

There has not until now been an appointed governor specifically to represent the VCSE sector on the Council. The request to nominate someone from the VCSE sector was made pro-actively by the Chief Executive of the Trust, and there is a great interest in strengthening formal links with our sector. This makes for a very exciting opportunity.

The representative will need to be a senior leader from the VCSE sector with experience, knowledge and insight into mental health and wellbeing. They will have an understanding of the GM Mental Health Strategy, the role of the GMMH Trust within this, the various current relationships between the GMMH Trust, VCSE partner organisations, other VCSE organisations and mental health service users. They will need to be committed to supporting the broader VCSE sector beyond your own organisational interests commit to attending five meetings per year and providing feedback from these where appropriate.
