St Thomas Centre announces contracts with two social enterprises

We are delighted to announce that we have appointed two social enterprises to provide services to our St Thomas Centre, a subsidiary social enterprise of GMCVO offering conference and meeting room hire.

Following a recent tender for a social enterprise caterer to complement our existing catering offer, we would like to thank the four social enterprise organisations who submitted tenders.

The successful organisation was Dela-Lite Catering, a new venture launched in 2018 as a social enterprise arm of The Launch Project. Dela-Lite work with people who are struggling to return to work or have little or no work experience. They also work with people who are trying to build a future after recovering from homelessness. They offer flexible learning and working to accommodate family or other commitments, while allowing the individual to gain experience and qualifications. Their menus include gluten free, vegan and vegetarian and they only use local produce, to support other local businesses.

We will continue to offer our existing catering provision, but our clients will now have the option to select a menu from either supplier.

We have also appointed the TreeStation to maintain the grounds around the centre. TreeStation is a social enterprise that provides an innovative green solution to wood waste for the Manchester area, with sustainability embedded into the aims of the company.

We believe that as a social enterprise ourselves, it is important to lead by example and hope that by adding social enterprises to our supply chain we can help to support the growth of the social economy in Greater Manchester.
